hip hip hooray for summer!

“Summertime is always the best of what might be.”

Now that Memorial Day has come and gone it's finally time to dig out those summer whites. Lighten up your wardrobe and toss aside winter's dark, drab colors (and rain gear if you live in soggy Massachusetts!)  It's also a good idea to summer-fy your home too.  Roll up the rugs, banish heavy breeze-catching drapes, and replace winter textiles with the lighter shades and textures of summer so guests will feel as cool as that white sangria chilling in your frig.

Designer Annie Brahler of Euro-Trash  sure knows how to arrange a symphony of summery whites by combining it with gorgeous gilded mirrors and chandeliers dripping with temperature defying rock crystals, and an array of antiques in Jackson, Illinois to create one absolutely  beautiful home.  Just check out these photos of her kitchen and breakfast room from House Beautiful.  Is it my imagination or did the temperature drop a few degrees just looking at these rooms?

Want more summer whites?  Plant a romantic moonshine garden of all white flowering plants like Annie did.  They'll glow on these midsummer evenings and brighten your garden all night and of course, beautify your garden by day-light too!

And don't forget summer's LWD! A perfectly chic Little White Dress will get you raves all summer long and show off your great tan too!  (I'm trying to stick with a sprayed on tan this summer, how about you lovely readers?)

Ahh, but what to drink on these hot summer evenings?  White Sangria of course!   This one gets its  refreshing taste from Italian limoncello.  A thirst quenching lemonade for the grown ups if you will.  Make some this weekend - you deserve it!

“it's a smile, it's a kiss, it's a sip of wine ... it's summertime!”

Have a happy weekend!
